    Fraud Alert: Fake CurrencyFair Job Offers on Messaging Apps – Stay Safe

    We have been made aware of fraudulent job offers being circulated via WhatsApp, Telegram and similar messaging apps, falsely claiming to represent CurrencyFair. These scammers are targeting individuals, particularly in Germany, with fake employment opportunities that have no connection to us.

    Victims are being asked to "register" for employment and then pressured into making payments. To be absolutely clear, any such communication is a scam. CurrencyFair is not associated with these activities in any way, and we are working to have the fraudulent content removed.

    How to Spot an Online Job Scam

    Online scammers often use convincing tactics to appear legitimate. Here are some red flags to watch out for:

    • Unexpected messages: If you are approached on WhatsApp, Telegram or other messaging platforms with job offers, be suspicious. CurrencyFair does not recruit via these channels.
    • Requests for payment: A genuine employer will never ask for money at any stage of the hiring process.
    • Unprofessional communication: Watch for poor spelling, generic greetings or urgent demands for information or payment.
    • Incorrect email addresses: All CurrencyFair communications will come from an official @currencyfair.com email address, never from free providers like Gmail or Yahoo.
    • Suspicious websites: Always verify that the website is the official one by typing the URL directly into your browser: www.currencyfair.com
