How do CurrencyFair referral rewards work?

When you sign up for CurrencyFair, you automatically gain access to our referral programme. The terms of the referral programme vary slightly depending on your location.  Your country of residence determines the details of the referral rewards. This includes the currency and reward amount you’ll receive when a referred friend meets the transfer-out minimum.

How to Refer Friends and Earn Rewards

1. Get Your Referral Link:
   You’ll find a unique referral link by clicking on the "Refer and earn" button in your CurrencyFair profile.
2. Share the Link:
   Send your referral link to friends who are signing up to CurrencyFair for the first time. 
3. Qualifying Transaction:
   When your referred friend:
   • Signs up using your link.
   • Completes a transfer out of at least the qualifying amount (shown below) for their location. Note the amount refers to the amount received by the beneficiary of the transaction. 

You and your friend will both receive the applicable referral reward.

You will receive the amount based on your local currency (see terms and conditions below). Your friends will receive the same amount converted to their local currency. Note this will fluctuate slightly based on exchange rates.

Referral Reward Scenarios

For example, let's say you live in Ireland 🇮🇪 (your referral location) and refer to 2 friends that live in Singapore and the US respectively. When your friend in Singapore signs up for CurrencyFair using your referral link and completes a transfer to a value equivalent to S$7,500 or more in the transfer recipient's local currency, or your friend in the US transfers a value equivalent to US$2,200 or more in the transfer recipient's local currency, both you and your friends will earn the following rewards:

How do I refer friends to CurrencyFair?

Just share your valid referral link and when friends sign up and transfer the qualifying amount for the relevant referral programme we'll reward you both.

You can share your unique referral link via any non-commercial platform that suits you, for example: 

1. Directly with friends & family.
2. Via email to colleagues.
3. On your personal social media pages (Facebook, Instagram, X, LinkedIn, etc)
   1. NB - You should be the primary owner and content creator for the page.  

Please note that the refer a friend programme is intended for non-commercial use only, so please respect this. We reserve the right to suspend the service and/or not honour a reward where it looks to us there is an abuse of the promotion taking place. Where do I find my CurrencyFair referral link?

Log in to your CurrencyFair profile using our web, Android or iOS apps, and select the Refer and earn button. Your referral link will be a URL displayed in the middle of the Refer a Friend page. Share this link with others for them to sign up to CurrencyFair you'll start earning potential rewards.

When do I get my referral reward credited to my profile?

Once you've shared your referral link, you don't need to do anything else but wait for your friends to sign up with your valid referral link and meet the minimum threshold amount and the other requirements outlined below.

You'll each get the referral reward token added to your profile. This token will be available for you to redeem through the "Your Rewards" section of your CurrencyFair profile. Please note that it can take up to 2 weeks for the token to be added to your profile.

If you sign up through an expired or disabled link, the award token might not be awarded to your profile. You will however be able to trade with CurrencyFair as normal.

You can redeem your rewards one at a time or select multiple to redeem them all at once. 

Please note that the reward token will be valid for six months only, thereafter the token will lapse.

What's the minimum threshold amount to qualify?

The minimum threshold to transfer out and qualify for the referral reward depends on your referred friend's country of residence, which they provide during registration.

When does this current referral reward offer end?

This offer to earn the above quantities when someone qualifies with your valid referral link ends at 23:59 (GMT) 30 January 2026.

To qualify within the timeframe, your referred friend will have to transfer the minimum threshold out from their CurrencyFair profile in one go before 30 January 2026..

How do I opt out of the programme?

While you automatically become eligible for the programme you do not need to partake in it. To opt out, simply do not share your unique referral link.

What are the terms and conditions?

1. The referral programme offers users a reward for inviting non-users to register and use CurrencyFair. This reward may change from time to time and may also change based on promotions being run in specific regions.

2. Your referral programme is automatically designated to you when you sign up for CurrencyFair.

3. The assigned referral programme and referral reward token (amount and currency awarded) is dependent upon your country of residence.

4. The minimum transfer out required to qualify for the referral reward is dependent upon the referred customer's country of residence.

5. Details of the referral programmes are as follows:
   
   1. All customers that have signed up for CurrencyFair in Singapore have a referral reward of S$100 and a transfer out minimum of S$7,500 for their first transaction .
   2. All customers that have signed up for CurrencyFair in Hong Kong have a referral reward of HK$550 and a transfer out minimum of HK$45,000 for their first transaction.
   3. All customers that have signed up for CurrencyFair in the United States of America have a referral reward of US$75 and a transfer out minimum of US$6,000 for their first transaction. 
   4. All customers that have signed up for CurrencyFair in the United Kingdom have a referral reward of £40 and a transfer out minimum of £5,000 for their first transaction. 
   5.  All customers that have signed up for CurrencyFair in Australia have a referral reward of AUD$150 and a transfer out minimum of AUD$9,000 for their first transaction. 
   6.  All customers that have signed up for CurrencyFair in the UAE have a referral reward of AED1,000 and a transfer out minimum of AED21,000 for their first transaction. 
   7.  All other customers have a referral reward of €50 (or the equivalent in the relevant currency) and transfer out minimum of €5,000 (or the equivalent in the relevant currency) for their first transaction.
      
      
6. Referral reward tokens are issued to both parties when a new customer is referred via a valid referral link carries out a single qualifying trade and transfers out using CurrencyFair.
   
   
7. As rates fluctuate, the total amount transferred out must meet the referred customer's referral programme transfer out minimum at the time of transfer which must be completed by 23:59 30 January 2026 (GMT). Offer ends 23:59 30 January 2026 (GMT).
   
   
8. Customers must be fully verified and activated before any reward tokens can be transferred out.
   
   
9. Referral reward tokens cannot be used in conjunction with any other new customer offer.
   
   
10. We reserve the right to update the referral reward terms and conditions at any time or revoke reward tokens if we deem that there has been inappropriate use of the programme.
    
    
11. You may not create more than one account in order to invite yourself; invite others that have created duplicate accounts; use the referral programme in a commercial way or in any way that breaches any applicable law or regulation; or any way that is unlawful or fraudulent.
    
    
12. If you are currently eligible for a reward in exchange for introducing new people to CurrencyFair then you’ll need to share your unique link with them. If for any reason your link is not entered properly (e.g. if the URL becomes truncated) we cannot guarantee the reward will be applied to the accounts.
    
    
13. Rewards are issued when a person you referred via your code carries out a trade and transfer using CurrencyFair. A qualifying transfer is a single transfer out from their CurrencyFair account.
    
    
14. By utilising the Refer a Friend programme, you consent to us using your first name from time to time in promotional content for the Refer a Friend programme. No other identifiable information will be used. Your first name will be stored and used only for as long as necessary for this purpose. You have the right to withdraw your consent at any time and you have all other rights regarding your personal data as detailed in our Privacy Policy.
    
    
15. If you are eligible for free transfers from the referral programme in your region, you can check the status of these free transfers on the “my account” page of your CurrencyFair profile. If you are eligible for a reward token, the token will be available for your use via the CurrencyFair web/mobile application. You can see the status of your referrals by clicking the “Claim your Rewards” button on your CurrencyFair dashboard.
    
    
16. You must verify your identity with CurrencyFair before any reward tokens are provided to you. CurrencyFair reserves the right to withhold or cancel any referral rewards. In some cases, it may not be possible for CurrencyFair to provide any details in relation to such cancellations.
    
    
17. Any reward tokens granted under the Refer a Friend programme will only be valid for 6 months and must be utilised during this period. At the end of the 6-month period the reward token will lapse. 
    
    
18. If you join CurrencyFair through a referral link, the referring party will know you are using CurrencyFair, as your use of the service will trigger their reward token.
    
    
19. CurrencyFair reserves the right to amend the terms of the Refer a Friend programme at any time. In the event the reward terms and conditions change for any reason, the reward token credited to the referring and referred parties will be the current reward applicable at the time the referred person conducts the minimum required transfer.
    
    

    Misuse of the Refer a Friend Programme

    CurrencyFair reserves the right to withhold, revoke, or cancel any referral reward tokens, and/or to suspend or terminate your account, if we suspect or determine, at our sole discretion, that you have engaged in fraudulent, abusive, or otherwise prohibited activity in connection with the Refer a Friend programme. Prohibited activity includes, but is not limited to:

    • Creating multiple accounts to refer yourself or to otherwise obtain referral rewards improperly.

    • Referring individuals who have created duplicate, fake, or ineligible accounts.

    • Engaging in circular, repeated, artificial, or automated transactions intended solely to qualify for referral rewards.

    • Using the programme for commercial purposes, in violation of applicable laws, or in a manner that is unlawful, deceptive, or fraudulent.

    • Sharing, posting, publishing, or distributing referral codes on public forums, social media, websites, or similar platforms with the intent of generating referrals in an artificial or improper manner, including any activity intended to “game”, manipulate, or exploit the programme.

    • Participating in the referral programme solely to earn rewards without a genuine intention to refer new, legitimate users to CurrencyFair.

    By participating in the Refer a Friend programme, you agree that CurrencyFair may investigate any suspected abuse and may take any action it deems necessary to protect the integrity of the programme, including denying rewards, reversing previously granted rewards, and suspending or terminating accounts.
